Mudie Cow is a cheeky play on the 'meh' feelings we all experience. Formulated for Gen Zennials, each scent embodies a distinct vibe: deep blues for calm, fiery oranges for passion, and bubbly pinks for flirty. Inspired by Y2K memorabilia like mood rings and lava lamps, colors transition from black to full saturation, reflecting the shift each fragrance promises. Founder Gillian Wall and I worked together over 10-ish months to bring this to life across full-size, travel, and sample bottles and boxes.
Stickers and color testing.
Across the range we went through 16 iterations of back panel stickers, testing opacities, color blends and layering. I printed test stickers on crappy stock at a local shop in Surry Hills and Gillian packaged up her bottle samples from overseas and posted them to my house. We mailed variations back and forth, slowly narrowing in on which had the balance of vibrancy and depth. Ultimately we landed on a CMYK build with two color passes, something I’d never asked a printer for in the past but worked out beautifully.
